SUCCESS- The team reach the summit of Aconcagua
at 3pm. Adam reported that the conditions were fantastic,
blue skies and fabulous views of the Andes from the
top. Well done to all the team for their efforts.
11th February - Yesterday Adam
called in from camp 2 they plan to make an attempt
on the summit tomorrow. After much deliberation Andy
has made the difficult decision to descend to BC after
a couple of nights of feeling sick. We wish all the
team well for their attempt.
10th
February - Good, stable weather
conditions allowed the team to make a decision to
traverse across the mountain to reduce the summit
day by 2.5 hours and allow a rest day on 11th.
This would also mean that the summit could be done
during the morning allowing great views before the
cloud cover of the afternoon.
8th
February - Team move onto dehydrated
food on the mountain.
6th
February - Rest day at Camp
1. Today's challenge ... everyday tasks to perform
with mitts on. Alex's attempts to roll a cigarette
were very amusing!!
4th February - The team arrived
at Base Camp 2 days ago. They have made their first
carry to Camp 1 and have had a rest day today. Everyone
is doing well and are planning a quiz night tonight
as well as celebrating with a few of their luxury
items.
Five
teams organised - Slapheads, Big Eggs, Herbal Tea,
Ermmm, and Idunno. Subjects included Rounds
of Music, Building and DIY, Sport, Flags, Animals,
General Knowledge and Argentina.
The winning team was Ermmm (Matt and Giles), close
place for second from Slapheads, Herbal Tea and Big
Eggs. Idunno lived up to their name and came
last!
One of the team members who will remain nameless would
like to pass on some words of wisdom for Base Camp...
Don't hang your jacket on the outside of the toilet
door when going to the loo, you may just need the
toilet paper that's in your jacket pocket!!!
2nd
February - Each member of the
team had a check up with the Doctor during this rest
day. Steve's oxygen saturation was the best

Giles revealed his luxury item, a 'Front Magazine'
which he plans taking all the way to the summit.
